The Spot Bar and Bandroom in fashionable Brunswick has always attracted a relaxed, mixed crowd with its’ funky décor and popular eighties nights. Unfortunately the audio quality was also like something from the eighties! Poor quality speakers were not pumping out the Spandau Ballet and Boy George as loud and clear as they should have been and so Chris Cochis of Rent The Rig was consulted and Nexo was promptly installed to bring the retro venue smack back into the twenty first century – audio-wise, that is.

Chris had been keeping a close ear on a variety of Melbourne venues that have Nexo installed and was keen to see if they would be a suitable option for The Spot. “I had heard how great the Nexo speakers sounded in other venues and I knew that they would be the ideal replacement,” Chris said.

Consequently a dual Nexo PS15 PA system running off Camco Vortex amplifiers was installed along with Quest HPI 118S subs and RCF speakers for fold back, and the venue’s owners could not be more delighted with the audio. “The sound is terrific; people feel it on the dance floor and that’s what we wanted,” commented co-owner Anthony Fazio. “However, it’s still possible for people to chat comfortably at the bar area” he said.

Additionally the success of the Nexo system is not only the superior quality of the technology, according to Chris, the support from its local distributor was a key component in his decision to install Nexo. “I know a lot of people who ask for Nexo because of the ongoing support network they have created. Not only have they done a good job promoting their products, the support is there if you need it and they really look after you.”
