The Palms at Crown was pegged as the venue of choice for the all star line -up of ‘Gotta Have Heart’.
The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra Strings with the kings of soul Grand Wazoo backed a run of headline acts including Jon Stevens, Leo Sayer, Anthony Callea, Rhonda Burchmore, Tim Campbell, Ian Stenlake, Mahalia Barnes and Ross Wilson.
With everyone on stage set to impress, the capacity crowd was taken on a soul filled journey of unforgettable performances by some of Australia’s biggest names in the business.
Driving front of house was long-time DiGiCo user Noel Bennett who impressed us all with his excellent mixes all night long. A line up like this with strings and full brass section is a daunting task at the best of times, combine that with a rock band and it gets a whole lot harder. On top of this, rehearsals were minimal so it’s a hard gig in anybody’s language.
The combination of The Palms resident Nexo Geo D, DiGiCo D5 console and Noel’s pure skill was a winning mix all round.
