Real Estate specialist Lendlease has helped revitalise a key precinct within Melbourne’s CBD, through a laneway transformation of office buildings located opposite Flagstaff Gardens. As part of the transformation, AV integrator Keece Technologies implemented a selection of loudspeakers and amplifiers from Melbourne-based pro audio manufacturer Quest.
Brights & Park comprises 469 and 485 La Trobe Street, with both buildings connected via the Park Street laneway- featuring Melbourne’s iconic bluestone paving and a shared zone for pedestrians and cyclists. The laneway showcases new public art by First Nations artist Tim Moriarty, that represents the different Wurundjeri seasons in Melbourne- expressing the continuous and permanent nature of all things. The art becomes an interactive experience when paired with QR codes attentively included in key locations, informing visitors of the significance behind each piece.

Adding to the laneway’s immersive capabilities, a selection of systems from Quest’s MX Series have been mounted in the laneway, as well as used internally in the building lobbies. Powering this distributed ecosystem are two Quest QX4300 amplifiers.
Quest’s MX601 loudspeakers were chosen for both their full-range sonic performance and overall visual design. The MX601’s low-profile form ensures their presence does not subtract from the indigenous artwork- allowing it to appear as the sole focus of the laneway.

The MX Series loudspeakers incorporate a passive resonance circuit that simulates the action of a reflex port, allowing for a sealed enclosure without compromising sonic performance. This design means the speaker can be environmentally rated up to IP67, ensuring robust protection against water and dust.
Following a comprehensive refurbishment, the lobby at 469 Latrobe Street now includes a new business lounge, naturalistic architectural design- capitalising on the expansive views of Flagstaff Gardens, and a new AV system incorporating Quest’s MX6C ceiling speakers.

A ceiling-mount version of the MX601, the MX6C is designed to provide seamless full range audio with an extremely minimal visual impact. Engineered with a lightweight housing and compact neodymium components, the system exerts minimal load on ceiling tiles, allowing installation without the use of reinforcing bars.

Driving the distributed audio setup are two Quest QX4300 systems, single RU power amplifiers designed around exceptional Class D performance. Ideal for multi-zone applications, QX Series amplifiers excel at providing commercial sound installations with clean and reliable power.
By weaving together cultural expression, modern design and practical audio technologies, the Brights & Park precinct has been transformed into a vibrant, connected destination. Quest’s discreet yet powerful loudspeaker solutions ensure that the audio system complements, rather than competes with, the surrounding environment.
