Verdant grapevines blanket the sprawling Mernda estate, setting the scene for an upscale, architecturally progressive venue. Here, sipping, dining and celebration is encouraged, shaped by a collection of spaces individually curated to engage the senses. Carefully considered interior design and a tailored audio system bring the winery to life, with Quest’s MX Series loudspeakers precisely positioned to deliver an immersive atmosphere throughout.
Light & Sound Solutions, a trusted AV specialist with over 15 years’ industry experience, installed a versatile lineup of Quest systems within the venue, primarily consisting of MX601 and MX801 high-fidelity loudspeakers. Coupled with the installation of Quest MX10S subwoofers and MX6C ceiling monitors, the loudspeakers form a powerful full-range sound system, providing exceptional performance whilst maintaining a low-profile in each space.
As Olivia Vella, Five Vineyard’s Venue Manger explains, the venue hosts everything from “intimate dining experiences of 18 guests to vibrant 200 guest cocktail events,” necessitating a solution that could offer “exceptional sound quality, subtle yet comprehensive coverage, and technology that complemented the architectural and interior design.” Olivia elaborates:
“The audio ambience at Five is a critical layer in the overall experience, elevating mood and enhancing the atmosphere. The intention was to create a calm, sophisticated energy during the day, and a warm, inviting vibe during evenings and throughout our event spaces.”
With 17 different audio zones spanning the vineyard’s cellar door, barrel room, deck, terrace and wine bar, a seamless soundscape was essential. Outdoor areas benefit from a mix of weatherproof MX601 and MX801 monitors, outfitted with Quest’s IPMX1 weather resistant cover connectors, to ensure reliable operation across changing weather conditions. Inside, MX801 systems, supported by a rich bass extension from MX10S subwoofers, provide a principal layer of coverage for the dining area and terrace. MX601 speakers are positioned in the cellar door, and music fills every corner thanks to MX6C ceiling speakers installed in the common areas and back-of-house.
Serving as a further testament to the MX Series, the Five Vineyard build reflects Quest’s commitment to optimising value without sacrificing audio quality. Daniel Thomas, Light & Sound Solutions’ Senior Project Manager, goes into detail:
“Our first impressions of the Five Vineyard brief was that everything needed to be state-of-the-art. A high emphasis on aesthetics and quality was paramount. For the AV, the initial budget wasn’t achievable given cost increases following Covid, so we found that Quest was our ideal solution to fulfil the budget, as well as the audio requirements of the venue. I’m quite familiar with Quest and we install it often; the value for money and reliability is really good. The MX speakers installed at Five lived up to my expectations and absolutely provided a great sound experience. They outperform any other speaker in their class.”
