PSI Audio has just introduced the A326 D-REX, intended as a Dynamic Range Extender for the A226 MAIN monitor speakers. As the A226 MAIN monitors already reach down to 20 Hz, the A326 D-REX is not acting as a subwoofer but as a special monitoring extender- considerably enhancing the dynamic accuracy and transparency of output within the 20 Hz to 100 Hz range. The combination of A226 MAIN and A326 D-REX has been described as a “highly lifelike listening experience”.
The A326 D-REX works in tandem with the A226 MAIN from PSI Audio as if they were one speaker. The Dynamic Range Extender is fully and perfectly aligned with the monitor speaker in both frequency and phase, as if both devices were just one big floorstanding system. Combined, the setup reaches up to 126 dB peak sound pressure – but more importantly, it achieves outstanding dynamic transparency, clarity and power in the low frequencies.
As with all PSI Audio loudspeakers, the A226-MAIN and A326 D-REX are built around the brand’s core commitment to neutral sound reproduction. This design philosophy ensures full compatibility across the PSI Audio range, allowing different models to be integrated seamlessly within large or immersive setups. While a system composed entirely of A226-MAIN and A326 D-REX units is certainly feasible, spatial or acoustic constraints may call for alternative combinations—such as using A21-M, A17-M, or A14-M monitors for surrounds and overheads. Thanks to consistent voicing across the lineup, such configurations maintain a coherent and balanced sonic image.
Like all PSI Audio monitor speakers, the A326 D-REX is developed and manufactured by highly trained specialists in the company’s own workshop in Switzerland. Every single speaker and subwoofer is calibrated individually in an anechoic chamber and the resulting graphs are delivered with the devices.
