When the City of Piła decided to rebuild its historic speedway venue, ASTA Arena, the project’s team set themselves an ambitious goal: every attendee in the 4029-seat bowl had to be able to hear every announcement and every rev of a bike above 100 dB of engine roar.
The modernization of the Polish stadium, carried out in stages from 2021, has been the most significant sports investment in the city’s history. The scope of work included reconstruction of the stands, modernization of the speedway track, adaptation of the facility to meet the needs of people with disabilities, installation of new lighting and display boards, and the installation of a brand new RCF audio system.
The acoustic brief was demanding: a system that would bring true concert-level clarity to a venue where speedway racing generates a broadband noise floor exceeding 95 dB(A) and exposure to wind and rain is constant. After predictive modeling, 45 x RCF P 6215 weather-rated, high-output point-source loudspeakers were chosen and installed by local integrator TOMMEX. Their controlled 60 × 40° directivity focuses energy onto each seating tier while keeping reflections away from the track and roof structure. All signal transport makes use of Dante and is controlled via RCF RDNet.
By combining RCF loudspeaker engineering with meticulous installation planning, ASTA Arena now positions Piła as a premier host for national and international competitions.
