PSI Audio expands its AVAA family of active bass traps with the new AVAA C225, designed to handle higher sound pressure levels, aimed at applications like home cinema, small clubs and high-SPL studios. Equipped with 2 x 10-inch drivers, the C225 can absorb sound pressure levels of up to 135 dB while retaining the core AVAA approach to low-frequency control. Operating without the need for tuning, it addresses room modes from 12 Hz to 130 Hz, delivering absorption performance comparable to traditional solutions up to 40 times its size. As with AVAA C214, the AVAA C225 can also be controlled via a smartphone app.

At low frequencies, room modes can produce extended decay times and uneven frequency response, reducing transient definition and causing discrete low-frequency events to be perceived as sustained resonances. The AVAA C225 is designed to mitigate these room-induced effects while requiring substantially less physical space than a passive absorber providing comparable low-frequency absorption. Unlike resonant absorbers, the AVAA C225 does not require frequency-specific tuning.
The Active Velocity Acoustic Absorber (AVAA) was developed by PSI Audio and is manufactured in Switzerland. As with other PSI Audio products, the AVAA C225 is manufactured to the company’s premium quality standards. Each unit is individually calibrated in the manufacturer’s anechoic chamber prior to shipment to verify its acoustic performance and ensure consistency between units.
