Almost a decade after its launch, NEXO’s flagship Line Array system remains unmatched on definition and transparency. Appearing on the main stage at NAMM 2022, as is shaping up to be quite the NAMM Show tradition, the mammoth 26-a-side NEXO STM setup employed by Minnesota-based events company Reach Communications, continues its mission to introduce attendees to an extraordinary level of live clarity.
The commanding silhouettes of NEXO’s STM boxes appear across a wide band of the NAMM Show’s recent history, with components from NEXO’s newest GEO M12 series also in attendance since 2019. This year, the main left and right arrays were comprised of 12 x M46 main modules and 12 x B112 Bass modules, with 2 x M28 omni-purpose modules used as down-fills. 6 x pairs of GEO M10 cabinets were used as front fills, sitting atop an immense 10 x double-stacked pairs of NEXO RS18 Subs.
Visiting from NEXO’s headquarters in Paris, Engineering Support Specialist Bertrand Billon was on hand during NAMM 2022, offering up a very positive summery of the setup:
“The system is sounding fantastic and the team at Reach Communications are reporting smooth and even coverage from front to back with minimal on-site tuning required. The rig has been excelling today on the huge range of genres included on the lineup. They have rock bands, choirs, brass bands- and everything has been sounding very clear, with plenty of headroom still available. I think this really illustrates that the STM is a fantastic choice for so many different types of events.”
On stage, a combination of S118 Sub modules, B112 Bass modules and M28s were used as side-fills, with 12 x PS15R2s serving as wedge monitors and 6 x MSUB18s used for drum-fills. A completely self-contained additional rear system was also present- a left and right array setup comprised of 9 x GEO M12 modules a side, with separate hangs of 5 x S118 Sub modules a side. The colossal task of amplification and processing for all modules in the setup came from 36 of NEXO’s networkable NXAMPMK2 units, unobtrusively set up in a maintenance area underneath the stage.
The addition of a VIP balcony fill requirement was handled effortlessly by NEXO’s new ID84 system, with 2 x NEXO ID84-I modules stacked ‘end-to-end’ and time-aligned with wireless transmission from the main stage setup. As part of NEXO’s newly ratified ID Series of installation and touring loudspeakers, the ID84 offers a sleek low-profile design suitable for a wide range of applications, and the ability to be pole mounted to create an elegant, freestanding system.
Leading the charge in the design of ground-breaking sound reinforcement solutions since 1979, NEXO have become a trusted go-to brand for production companies and engineers around the globe, thanks to their intense focus on technological innovation and an ever-growing reputation for sonic excellence. Garnering distinctly positively feedback from both audience and attending engineers alike, NEXO’s NAMM Show 2022 appearance once again highlights STM’s ability to surprise even the most seasoned of industry veterans.
