The accordion wielding bandit and world’s most recognised parody artist Weird Al hit Aussie shores with a long overdue tour; entertaining fans with his unique brand of musical satire. Weird Al has been doing his thing for over thirty years taking out three Grammies and a flurry of platinum album awards. His tour across the country had him playing at several venues, with Monitor City at the helm handling the all techy bits. Adrian Barnard was the Production Manager for the tour, Brad Galvin was on monitors and Kieran Lang was asked by Monitor City to come in and oversee Weird Al’s the engineers making sure their every need was met.

With such a legendary act performing to crowds of 3000+, it was only fitting that Nexo was there to send those parodies out to the crowds at full ball.
- Canberra’s Royal Theatre was setup with 8 x Nexo Geo S12 per side and 2 RS18’s side.
- Queensland’s Performing Arts Centre had 12 x Nexo Geo S12 per side and 3 RS18’s per side.
- Newcastle’s Civic Theatre had 9 x Nexo Geo S12 per side and 3 RS18’s per side in cardioid mode.
- Sydney’s Enmore Theatre and Tasmania’s Wrest Point Casino used their permanently installed Nexo systems.
- Nexo PS 15’s were used for the band’s fold backs and an additional 4 x PS10’s were utilised for front fill. Camco Vortex 8’s powered the RS18’s.

Kieran was quite pleased with the result of the tour as well as the results gained from setting the RS18’s in cardioid at Newcastle’s Civic Theatre. “The Civic Theatre required us to save some space so we set the RS18’s up closer in to the stage and decided to experiment with the subs in cardioid mode. We were very, very happy with the result. Oh, and the Camco’s sounded fantastic, they were so smart too – smarter than some of the crew! (joke)”.
Weird Al’s engineers were just as impressed with the Nexo system overall as Kieran notes. “Weird Al’s FOH engineer was incredibly happy with the entire system, the production, and Monitor City’s service”.
