In one of the most anticipated launches to grace the company’s 40-year lineage, French loudspeaker manufacturer NEXO has just announced a new flagship 15” point source cabinet and accompanying 18” sub.

Completing the recently developed P+ series, the P15 is a full-range, 2-way coaxial speaker system featuring both passive and active modes. Designed with FOH, monitoring and installation applications in mind, the system can be used with or without its companion sub cabinet the L18. Like the PS15 before it, the P15 sets a new benchmark for contemporary speaker cabinet performance.

NEXO’s previously unmatched PS15 has remained its best seller for the better part of 25 years, and even to this day is lauded as one of the world’s best 15” loudspeaker systems. With the advent of the P15, NEXO seeks to redefine the capabilities of a 15” system, in terms of both power, weight and feature set.

The cabinets can be deployed in vertical or horizontal (wedge) configurations, and as with the P8, P10 and P12, the P15 offers modular directivity that can be quickly and easily adjusted for the required application. The standard 60°x 60° horn flange can be interchanged with a 90°x 40° flange, or an asymmetrical 60°- 100°x 40°.

The P15 features a unique curvilinear enclosure of custom birch and poplar plywood, resulting in superior weight saving and exceptional sonic performance. Bass-reflex action is handled through two specially designed ports, providing an extremely high distortion threshold, allowing the P15 to sound clean and crisp even at very high output levels. With a frequency response of 57Hz-20kHz, a max SPL of 141 dB in Active mode, and weighing in at only 23kg, the P15 is a triumph of modern engineering.

The back plate of the P15 features 2 x Speakon connectors and a recessed switch to change the cabinet from passive to active mode. Each side of the cabinet also includes a Speakon connector, enhancing placement versatility. Each unit includes universal rigging points on the sides and bottom, and a 35mm pole-mount fitting.

The P15’s companion subwoofer, the L18 is a horn-loaded subwoofer system featuring an 18” high-excursion driver. The cabinet is designed to match the footprint and performance level of the P15, offering a max SPL of 140 dB, and extending frequency reproduction down to 32Hz. The L18 can be deployed in standard and cardioid modes, and like the P15, features threaded inserts on the back and both sides for the connection of mounting accessories.

The P15 can be pole-mounted on the L18, wall-mounted, or flown in landscape mode beneath an L18 enclosure. This provides a high level of scalability, enabling the point source cabinets to excel in theatres, sportsgrounds, and venues of any size- ultimately giving rise to a system capable of handling a vast repertoire of performance and event applications, whilst maintaining an impressively minimal footprint.
