Making waves with their studio-oriented OC818 and OC18, Austrian Audio’s first series of microphones immediately put the Vienna-based manufacturer on the radar for many pro audio professionals around the world. Now turning their attention to the live audio market, Austrian Audio reach out to innovate across even more industry landscape.
OC707: True Condenser Vocal Microphone
Taking true Vienna craftsmanship to the next level, Austrian Audio’s OC707 True Condenser vocal microphone brings studio-quality condenser performance to the stage. Austrian Audio have achieved a handheld design that has all the important characteristics of a studio microphone yet can withstand the rigours of everyday live use.
Sure to delight sound engineers and audiophiles alike, the OC707 is able to capture every nuance of a performance thanks to the OCC7: Austrian Audio’s unique new small-diaphragm capsule developed and built in Vienna. The capsule’s three-micron-thick gold-coated Polyethylene Naphthalate diaphragm is much more robust than conventional Mylar alternatives. The combination of high output level (151dB SPL) and low self-noise (19dB SPL) results in an impressive dynamic range.
Designed to capture the subtleties and dynamics of the human voice, the OC707 offers excellent sound quality and reduced proximity effects. Blocking out unwanted noise from the outset, the OC707 ensures vocals cut through the mix with a detailed and natural presence.
Open Acoustics Technology
The OC707 features Austrian Audio’s new proprietary Open Acoustics Technology, allowing sound to enter the capsule almost entirely unimpeded from all sides. Contact points between the capsule and the enclosure are reduced to a minimum, leading to the reduction of sound-reflecting surfaces in proximity to the capsule. This ensures that the signal source is reproduced as close to resonance-free as possible. Sophisticated materials and advanced mechanics reduce unwanted vibrations, whilst care was also taken to achieve maximum suppression of feedback. The switchable 2nd order high-pass filter further enhances these features and can be used as an effective tool against low rumble and excessive proximity effects.
Developed and tested in Austrian Audio’s Vienna facility to truly meticulous standards, the OC707 is proudly manufactured using only the highest quality materials and techniques. Proving once again that they are leaders in their field, Austrian Audio’s new live microphones appear primed to set a new standard in live audio technology.
