This month marks the 10-year anniversary of the biggest line array launch in Australia.
Making a firm mark in the history of Australian pro audio, Group Technologies’ 2012 NEXO STM launch remains unsurpassed in both its scale and reach. Instead of using a controlled space, tuned specifically for a sales demo, Group Technologies offered listeners a chance to more accurately judge the power and throw of the new STM system in a realistic, open environment- more akin to the setting of a real gig.
Taking place in Rubicon Valley, Victoria, the launch included a host of hospitality highlights, with helicopter and private bus transport, as well as accommodation at the stunning Stonelea Country Estate among them. Open to the best and brightest in the industry, the week-long event offered ample listening time through a comprehensive range of field demonstrations.
The array setup was reconfigured onsite multiple times, to help truly reflect the power and versatility of the STM modules, and to demonstrate the ultra-fast rigging/derigging speed achieved by NEXO’s PistonRig™, REDLock™ and CompassRig™ rigging features. Initially setup as two single hangs, the system was expanded to double (12+12 for an immense 24 modules per side) hangs and then to a unique triple (6+6+6 for 18 modules a side) array setup, with ground-stacked configurations also being given generous listening time.
NEXO’s Scale Through Modularity technology continues to be used in quality productions throughout Australia, remaining unmatched on clarity and definition. Still very much a flagship product for the French manufacturer, NEXO STM systems continue to steal the limelight on stages across the world, as evidenced by a recent appearance on the NAMM 2022 mainstage.
