A prominent fixture of Perth’s production landscape, Power Audio Visual have been honing their craft since the business’s original formation in 1992. Having undergone a recent rebranding, the company has maintained its reputation as an easy-going local hire and production service provider, while signalling a new scale-up of scope and operations. Along with the brand revitalization comes the company’s investment in additional pro audio equipment, including new RCF HDL 20-A modules. Leveraging the capability of their HDL 20-A setup to advance into new markets, the technology behind RCF’s line array system has enabled Power Audio Visual to drive home some of its largest jobs to date.
Seasoned in providing dry hire and all-round production services, including audio, lighting, stages and screens, from rock gigs to corporate events, Power Audio Visual is well-versed in the use of industry-leading equipment. As Managing Director Anthony Grier explains, the new addition of modules to their RCF HDL 20-A line array has helped them in fulfilling requirements across larger frameworks:
“In the past we were heavily focused on the DJ market, but now we’ve expanded out into production for live bands. This change means we are now servicing a wider variety of events and we’ve found ourselves needing a bigger system for many of them. It’s the logical conclusion to our original investment- we were on the hunt for something punchy, reliable, and able to cover events of 5000 to 10,000 people if needed. We landed on the RCF HDL 20-A because it ticked all the boxes and had a great price point that fit the budget. It’s done us well!”
Building on seven decades of innovation in audio technology development, RCF’s HDL 20-A systems feature a no-compromise touring-grade design, coupling superb acoustic performance with compact, lightweight modules that are easily configurable. Leveraging a wealth of the Italian manufacturer’s advances in loudspeaker design, Power Audio Visual have deployed the HDL 20-A’s for a plethora of recent events:
“We have had a great run this season with the addition of new modules. The RCF line array has been mainly servicing live shows, DJ gigs and the occasional corporate event. We’ve used it for private school valedictorians and awards nights, Christmas carols, New Year’s Eve parties and other council events for City of Rockingham- basically, we’ve been flying it whenever we have outdoor venues that need a bit of grunt.”
Power Audio Visual’s recent investment has allowed for larger line array hangs and the option of more diverse configurations. Equipped to execute more sizeable events, Anthony details the company’s recent involvement in Perth Firewater Festival:
“Firewater is a three-day event held right on the foreshore of the river in Perth. It was huge, and probably the biggest festival we’ve ever done. It’s a culturally significant festival for WA, featuring worldclass performers with WA origins- bands like Birds of Tokyo, Gyroscope, Eskimo Joe and Diesel. We had our RCF system flown, with a total of 20 boxes making up the configuration. We went for a setup that would give us large-scale coverage for the venue, so we ended up using 8 x HDL 20-A’s a side, with 4 x front fill boxes and 8 x 8006-AS dual subs.”
Going from strength to strength, backed by the performance of RCF’s line array technology, Power Audio Visual is positioned to continue its trajectory of success. Pleased with the HDL 20-A’s comprehensive capabilities and the ensuing future prospects for the business, Anthony summarises:
“We’ve been really happy with having the HDL 20-A system as part of our loadout. For its size, it’s got plenty of punch and good levels of clarity. I’m already considering investing in RCF’s HDL 6-A’s to complement the 20’s for when we need more front fill. Overall, having purchased this rig has been a great decision for us. It has led to involvement in much larger gigs than we were expecting and also allowed us to grow and expand into new markets – and we have been super happy to do so!”
