Long known for its unique architecture, the French city of Lyon has recently become home to the first known floating theatre in Europe: the L’Île Ô. Permanently moored on the Rhône River, the extraordinary venue blends aesthetics and technology to deliver a range of artistic, civic, and educational initiatives. The venue spans 245m2 over three levels, housing two performance halls with seating for 78 and 244 guests respectively.
For the largest of these, venue operators Les Scènes Ôtrement engaged AV installation specialists Novelty AURA (Auvergne Rhône-Alpes) to design and implement a class-leading AV system, which included loudspeakers from Parisian manufacturer NEXO.
The system includes a left and right cluster of NEXO P12 speakers flown below L15 subs, complemented by NEXO’s compact ID24s performing the role of front fill.
For Novelty AURA Business manager Maxime Humen, NEXO’s P+ Series was a clear choice for the hall, in meeting the venue’s key performance and coverage requirements:
“At the design stage, it was obvious that being able to vary the HF dispersion of the P12s was going to be hugely helpful in achieving even coverage in the space.
