Kubik is an innovative and forward-thinking multi-use installation, so much more than a temporary entertainment venue. Kubik is a unique and cutting-edge open-air event space created entirely of illuminated water tanks that are synchronised with music. Each Kubik installation is tailor made with a unique design to fit in with the local site, culture and skyline and can host a capacity of 600 – 4000+ depending on the project. Kubik has been set-up at different locations since Melbourne Music Week 2010.
Kubik’s most recent location was Frankston, on the waterfront of Port Philip Bay, Melbourne. Kubik Frankston was an electrifying fusion of Melbourne’s pulsating music culture and vibrant culinary food trucks, all set against the backdrop of a family-friendly environment. The spotlight was on Melbourne’s finest DJs and electronic musicians with an all-local line up showcasing a diverse range of musical genres to keep the crowd grooving into the night. From House, Techno, Hip-Hop, or classic Disco, the line-up drew music enthusiasts from across the state to experience the first installment of Kubik Frankston right on the Waterfront. The magic of Kubik Frankston didn’t stop with the music. Food aficionados were treated to food trucks offering a tantalizing selection of comfort food and special treats.
Adding to the visual and music spectacle of Kubik, the producer Kevin said they chose high quality CEON cables by Cordial for their DJ rig as they were eye-catching in line with Kubik’s aesthetic, and delivered excellent sound quality.
