JAK AV was recently brought on board to replace the outdated projection and audio system in the multi-purpose hall at St Andrews Christian College in Wantirna South. The school sought a solution that would not only enhance the atmosphere during sports events, but also provide versatile presentation capabilities for other school activities held in the venue. To meet these needs, JAK AV installed a state-of-the-art video wall solution, integrated with professional sound and advanced control systems, creating an immersive and dynamic experience for all events.
JAK AV’s expertise in delivering sophisticated audio-visual solutions tailored to educational sport venues came to the foreground during the project. Following a detailed assessment of the venue and its acoustics, the integration team installed a total of 60 LED screen modules, forming an impressive 5-metre-wide x 3-metre-high video wall.
To complement the impressive visual element on this assignment, JAK AV chose NEXO’s P15 point-source loudspeakers and L18 companion subs. The left and right front-of-screen hangs comprised of a P15 and L18 combination easily and elegantly rigged using the PNI-P15TOL18 P15 under L18 Sub Rigging System. Another two P15 cabinets were deployed to the left and right sides of the main hangs to cover the far sides of the gymnasium.
An industry staple, the P15 is known for its clear and powerful sound, great coverage, and ease of installation. The full-range coaxial 15” + 3” speaker (57 Hz to 20 kHz) delivers up to 141 dB SPL and offers variable directivity, a feature that’s always useful for installation projects. The accompanying L18 subs extend the range down to 32 Hz and reach maximum SPL levels of 140 dB. The subs’ LF driver and coil permit high power-handling while maintaining stiffness and high displacement to provide tight low-frequency reproduction. While both cabinets use high-grade Baltic birch and poplar plywood for structural strength and acoustical enhancement, their compact size results in easily manageable weights of only 23 and 50 kilograms for the speaker and sub respectively.
The amplification for the NEXO system came from the 4 X 2500 Watts NXAMP4X2MK2 NEXO Amplifier. The amp features four state-of-the-art Class-D amplifiers to provide flexible and light-weight powering and control. The NXAMP4 amps are well regarded for their impressive specifications and performance that provides a very solid bass and excellent high-end definition, resulting in articulate and rich sound.
The resulting AV system performed exceptionally well in the post-install demonstration and test run. The ecosystem created by JAK AV, supported with easy-to-use professional controls, provides St Andrews’ AV staff, its teachers, students, and visitors with a high-end solution that can elevate AV content, engage audiences, and enhance any event.
