The 2023 NAMM Show featured some surprise gear announcements and continued the National Association of Music Merchants’ tradition of global industry networking. Run in April as a “bridge” between last year’s June show and their customary yearly dates in January, the 2023 event once again featured an immense 26-a-side NEXO line array on the Yamaha/NEXO Grand Plaza stage.
Among the new releases from our brands were PSI Audio’s innovative AVAA C214 Digital Active Bass Trap and RCF’s new NX 912-SMA / NX 915-SMA professional stage monitors.
PSI Audio – AVAA C214: Digital Active Bass Trap
Standing alongside its analogue sibling, the AVAA C20, the new AVAA C214 is a DSP-based active bass trap capable of absorbing unwanted room modes. Based on the same absorption principles as the AVAA C20, the bass trap requires no calibration before use- simply place it where room modes are present, and it will absorb them. The end result is a much cleaner low end response within critical listening environments such as studios, listening rooms, OB vans and audiophile setups.
Even smaller than the compact AVAA C20, yet capable of absorbing up to 45 times its size, the AVAA C214 makes use of ultra-low latency processing to efficiently absorb unwanted frequencies between 15Hz-160Hz. The AVAA C214 is fully digital and allows optional control via an app on a smartphone or tablet.

RCF – NX 912-SMA / NX 915-SMA: Professional Active Stage Monitors
Adding to RCF’s new NX Series of active loudspeakers comes the NX 912-SMA and NX 915-SMA, rugged full-range stage monitors for touring professionals. The combination of a 1.75” compression driver, 12” or 15” woofer (for the 912/915 respectively) and RCF’s proprietary True Resistive Waveguide, enable the loudspeakers to produce coherent 100° x 70° coverage of high quality sound at up to 131dB SPL.
Mirroring design improvements from the popular ART 9 Series, the NX Series offers RCF’s latest touring-grade loudspeaker feature set, inside an all-timber cabinet. Combining the Italian manufacturer’s proprietary FiRPHASE and Bass Motion Control DSP technology, NX stage monitors are designed to deliver pristine clarity and a deep, powerful bass response. Tailored for both horizontal or vertical deployment, the NX stage monitors include a steel pole socket for mounting on a stand or a subwoofer pole, and can also be flown or wall/truss-mounted using the included six M10 rigging points.
